Station 2

Our team of experts

An introduction to the design and building team.

The redevelopment project was overseen by the Hall Panel, composed of Company members with relevant experience, and supported by the services of Synergy Project Management. Under the direction of the Hall Panel and various tender processes, key team members were engaged.
6a Architects

6a Architects were employed on the strength of their understanding of the Company’s core aims, as well as their extensive architectural experience.

From the outset, 6a produced innovative and sensitive ideas to address the Company’s access requirements, to deconflict the flows within the building and to introduce new event spaces that played to the buildings varied historical periods.  The new space would be available to both members and for income generation towards future maintenance.

Ritchie Daffin

Ritchie Daffin – environmental and build services engineers, worked closely with 6a to design and specify modern solutions to address the project’s heating, lighting and communication infrastructure.

Nick Tyson from The Regency Town House

Nick Tyson from The Regency Town House was engaged during the pre- planning discovery stage to research what areas of historical and architectural significance lay within the fabric and under the surface of the building. This would help inform what interventions could take place.  He worked closely with Historic England.  During this period, the medieval route of the Walbrook culvert was rediscovered and an additional basement room under the Old Court room which had been backfilled with debris from the Great Fire of London.

Rooff Construction

Our main building contractors.
Rooff were engaged to bring the Company’s aspirations from plan to reality. Key to Rooff’s success was their innovative plan to introduce a site lift and goods delivery system. This negated the need for a site crane, which prevented having to dig foundations that would risk disturbing archaeology and thus causing delays and adding cost. Rooff established a core management team that have remained with the project throughout.

Hannah Carter Owers

Our Interior designer.

Working closely with 6a Architects, Hannah introduced the Hall Panel to an interior scheme that played to the historical context of the spaces whilst introducing contemporary furniture and soft furnishings. This was combined with a paint palate inspired by the tones of the Brangwyn Murals.
